Complete Treatment in 2 visits
It usually takes only two appointments at Jackson Family Dentistry to build and place a dental crown or bridge.
At our office, we focus focuses on both restorative treatment and cosmetic results. Not only will your new teeth feel totally natural, but they will look great, too.
Crowns and bridges can easily last 10-15+ years with proper care, allowing you to restore damaged or missing teeth and enjoy your smile for years to come.
Dental crowns are tooth-shaped dental prostheses that are placed over your existing tooth to cover up all of the remaining enamel and protect the underlying tooth structure. Crowns are typically used when your tooth has been severely damaged by an oral injury or decay.
A dental bridge is similar, but bridges are used to treat missing teeth. A bridge uses two dental crowns, which are attached to two healthy “abutment” teeth next to the socket where your missing tooth used to be. Then, a false tooth (pontic) is attached to these two crowns and suspended between them, literally “bridging” the gap where your missing tooth used to be.
The placement process for both crowns and bridges is quite similar. First, our team will clean and numb your mouth. You can also be sedated if you feel this will make you more comfortable. Next, your damaged tooth will be trimmed and shaped to create a stable platform onto which the crown can be bonded.
Once each tooth has been trimmed, we will take images and scans of your mouth. This information will be sent to a third-party dental lab, where your crown or bridge will be manufactured. You will be sent home with a temporary crown or bridge, and as soon as we receive your permanent prosthetic, your doctor will attach it with dental cement.
If you have a damaged tooth that cannot be treated with a filling, a dental crown may be the right restorative option for you. Patients with missing teeth can benefit from a dental bridge. No! We numb the treatment area, and we can even provide you with sedation if you wish. The process is totally pain-free, though some soreness is common in the days following the procedure.
